We sell products that help promote healthy and sustainable living. In today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world it’s super important that we unplug and feel relaxed in our homes. There’s also been a huge shift towards urban culture, and something’s been lost in the process; the connect to the land. We actively encourage people to get outside and reconnect with nature. We have to connect with that, because we are a part of it. In the same way as animals, trees, as well as anything else.
We all have a responsibility to look after ourselves, each other and the planet. Change can only happen if we change. Long term prosperity can only be achieved by an integrated approach to sustainability. We are committed in helping educate, inspire and motivate people to make small changes in their lives that can make a big difference to people, and the world around us. We endeavor to be mindful of our actions and ensure they support the opportunity for people and our planet to blossom.

PRODUCT SOURCING & MANUFACTURING

Our aim is to sell products that are kind to people and the planet. Long-lasting products that are made from durable, ethically sourced and sustainable materials are a priority for us. As is eliminating single-use plastic products, and reducing plastic materials unless they are made from a recycled plastic source. We also champion products that are made from natural ingredients and contain zero toxins, no harmful chemicals and are eco-friendly.
Therefore, we continuously work to develop close relationships with our partner brands and suppliers to ensure that the manufacturing processes and supply chain systems follow sustainable business practices, this reduces negative environmental impacts while conserving energy and natural resources. As well as benefiting the planet, sustainable manufacturing also enhances employee, community and product safety.

ETHICAL TRADE & FAIR WORKING POLICY

Sammylou has a clear philosophy that as a retailer we must work together with brands, manufacturers and their suppliers to take responsibility for improving the working conditions of the people who make the products we sell. By engaging with our partner brands and their suppliers around the world, we actively encourage and support the continuous improvement in manufacturer and supplier standards.
We aspire to develop long term relationships with our partner brands and their suppliers who share our ethical standards and code of labour programs. These relationships are built on the principle of fair, open and honest dialogues at all times with a focus on continuous improvement. This leads to greater job satisfaction, creates community and provides workplace safety within the supply chain.

PACKAGING & REPACKAGING

Our integrated approach to sustainability is built on the principle of ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’. We are committed in raising consumer awareness of packaging waste in oceans and landfills to drive change. From 2007 to 2017, paper and cardboard formed the main source of packaging waste in Europe (31.4 million tonnes in 2017), followed by plastic and glass (14.5 million tonnes for plastic and 14 million tonnes for glass waste in 2017).
The products you buy from us will arrive in various forms of packaging following the ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ mantra. We reuse as much of our own materials as possible, and actively source recycled packaging from our local community and businesses to help reduce waste. As part of this approach, we have established clear sustainable packaging objectives that shape our future commitment to act on reducing packaging waste.
